Recently there has been talk of the Confederates wanting to make peace with the Union. Supposedly the Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens met with President Lincoln to talk of peace but nothing’s come out of it. Why you might wonder? Well according to many sources Lincoln and the U.S. Congress is proposing a Thirteenth Amendment to add onto the Constitution. This amendment would make slavery against the law everywhere in the United States. It would also mean that the Confederates had to have a future without slavery, one in which they do not support and so they are against this Thirteenth Amendment.
